Split long videos into parts for WhatsApp Status and Stories on iPhone
Video Splitter cuts one long video into clips of 1:00, 1:30 or any length you choose — or into equal parts — so you can post the whole thing to WhatsApp Status, Instagram Stories and more. Parts come out in HD, in posting order (Part 1, Part 2…), with no watermark.

How it works
Choose a video
Pick a video from Photos or Files, or record one in the app (up to 30 minutes). Videos are imported without compression.
Pick a length or a number of parts
Tap Stories (1:00) or Status (1:30), set any other length with Custom, or split into 2 to 100 equal parts. Trim the start and end if you like: the live preview shows how many parts you'll get and where every cut lands.
Split, save and post
Tap Split. Save or share each part, or save them all to Photos at once, Part 1 first, and post them in order.

Presets for every format
One tap sets the length of every part, and you can set any custom length too.
| Preset | Length per part | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Stories | 1:00 | Instagram Stories and other 60-second story formats |
| Status | 1:30 | WhatsApp Status where 90-second statuses are available (otherwise use Stories) |
| Timeline | 2:20 | Feed posts that cap videos at 2 minutes 20 seconds |
| Short videos | 3:00 | YouTube Shorts and other feeds that currently allow up to 3 minutes |
| Long posts | 5:00 | Longer posts, or breaking a long recording into manageable chunks |
| Custom | Any length | Whatever the app you post to accepts |
| Parts | 2 to 100 equal parts | Splitting a video into an exact number of pieces |
Each app sets, and changes, its own limits. If an app asks you to trim a part, pick a shorter preset or a custom length. If the last part would be shorter than 3 seconds, it's balanced with the one before it, so you never get a tiny leftover clip.
Limits checked October 2026.

Frequently asked questions
How long can a WhatsApp Status video be?
WhatsApp allows 60 seconds per status video, and it has been rolling out 90 seconds (1:30) to some users. Longer videos have to be trimmed or split. Video Splitter's Status preset cuts 1:30 parts; if WhatsApp asks you to trim one, use the Stories preset (1:00) instead.
How do I post a long video to WhatsApp Status without it being cut off?
Split it into parts first. In Video Splitter, choose the video, tap Status (1:30) or Stories (1:00), tap Split, then save the parts to Photos and add them to your status starting with Part 1. The whole video plays in order and nothing is lost. See the step-by-step guide.
How long can an Instagram Story video be?
Instagram currently plays up to 60 seconds per story video. Use the Stories preset (1:00) to cut a long video into 60-second parts, then post them one after another so the whole video plays in order.
How do I split a video into 60-second clips on iPhone?
Tap the Stories preset (1:00), or tap Custom and set any length with the slider or the +/- buttons, then tap Split. A 5-minute video becomes five 1:00 parts. If the last part would be shorter than 3 seconds, it's balanced with the one before it, so no part is longer than 1:00 and there's no tiny leftover clip.
Can I split a video into equal parts?
Yes. Switch to By Parts and choose from 2 to 100 parts; every part has the same length (at least 3 seconds each). The preview shows how long each part will be before you split.
Will my video lose quality?
The free version exports in HD, up to 1080p at your video's own resolution, and videos are imported without compression. Pro adds Original quality, which keeps 4K and HDR, and a lossless fast export that cuts without re-encoding. Keep in mind that WhatsApp and most social apps compress videos again when you post them.
Does Video Splitter add a watermark?
No. Video Splitter never adds a watermark, in the free version or in Pro.
Is Video Splitter free?
Yes. Downloading and splitting are free: every split mode, HD export, trimming, removing audio, and saving or sharing single parts, with no daily limits. Your first Save All is free too. The free version shows ads. Video Splitter Pro is an optional one-time purchase (no subscription) that removes ads and adds Save All, Share All, Original 4K/HDR quality, formats, part numbers, overlap and smart cuts.
Does the app upload my videos?
No. Videos are processed on your iPhone and are never uploaded, to us or to anyone else. There's no account to create either.
Will the parts stay in the right order?
Yes. In the app, every part is labeled in order (Part 1 of 12, Part 2 of 12 and so on). Save All adds them to Photos in posting order, Part 1 first, with file names like “Part 01 of 12”. With Pro you can also put a number like 1/5 on each part so viewers know the order.
Does it work on iPad or Android?
Video Splitter is made for iPhone and needs iOS 18 or later. There's no separate iPad version, and no Android version.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Open the app, tap the gear icon to open Settings, and tap Restore Purchases (it's also at the bottom of the Pro screen). Use the same Apple Account you bought Pro with. Pro is a one-time purchase, so restoring it costs nothing and works on all your devices. More help on the Support page.
