Use this guide only if mobile data or picture messages (MMS) stop working on an active AT&T line. These settings restore the normal connection of your own plan: they do not add data, change your plan or remove charges.
Before you start
- Your phone must be compatible with the AT&T network (unlocked if it came from another carrier), and your line must be active with a plan that includes data.
- Turn on Mobile data and check that you have signal.
- AT&T uses a different APN by phone type: ENHANCEDPHONE for 5G smartphones and NXTGENPHONE for LTE (4G) devices.
Steps
- Open Settings > Wireless & Networks (or More Networks or Connections) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
- Tap ⋮ > Reset to default, select the AT&T APN if it appears and test mobile data.
- If it still does not work, tap Add (+) (or the menu button), enter the values for your phone type below exactly as written and leave Proxy, Port, Username, Password and Server blank. AT&T recommends double-checking the spelling of the APN.
- Tap ⋮ > Save, go back to the APN list, select the new APN and restart the phone.

If it still does not work
Turn airplane mode on and off and restart the phone. If the problem continues, contact AT&T through its official support channels. Do not use APN profiles shared by unofficial sources.
